You're like a photographer with words Dan. So many snapshots here that are lingering in my imagination. Now I can't unsee the man who otherwise would have remained invisible.

I really enjoyed reading this. Most times, when Hegel is discussed, he's often described as the abstruse philosopher whose works served as the precursor to Marxism. But you have presented a different side to him which has gotten me interested in Hegel the man. Also, Hegel and MLK? Now, that's an overlap I never thought I'd see! I just might pick up a copy of his biography which you referenced at the end of your piece to learn more

You are a master of vignettes. I remember reading your first set of vignettes during WOP and thought, ah this makes sense. Only a journalist could write like this.
